The Virginia dayflower is a large perennial cousin to the annual, weedy Asiatic Dayflower. It grows 1-2 feet tall and spreads readily by rhizomes and by seed to form a large patch. Much resembles spiderwort in form and habit. Best use as a groundcover or to naturalize large areas. Prefers semi-shaded wet meadows, flood-plains, swamps, and other low ground. Blue flowers July-August. Zone 6-9. Virginia ecotype.
