It is always amazing to see these spikes of pink coming out of nowhere on barren banks and dry slopes.  Full sun to part shade; average, well-drained soil; small, pink and pretty, nodding bell-shaped flowers; good for rock gardens, lightly shaded banks; plants 1’ to 1.5’ tall; Blooms in July in zones 3-8, WV. ecotype.
