Sun to light shade; Average to dry soil; Large shrub to small tree this makes for a perfect yard or street tree replacement for those dreadful Bradford Pears. Loads of white flowers in the spring attract bees. This is followed by blue-black fruits in June that are like a cross between an apple and a blueberry in flavor. Makes good pies and jams. Also important for birds as there are few other berries available to them at that time of year. Blooms April-May; Grows between 15-30' tall; Zone 4-8; MD ecotype.
