Sun; Dry sandy or stony soil; Rare in the east this mainly midwestern species grows in sand prairies and rocky outcrops. It has oddly beautiful greenish white to purple flowers on top of a tallish narrow-leaved plant. Plant is taprooted and must have well drained soil. Grows 1-3' tall; Blooms July-August; Zone 3-8; MO ecotype.
