Spiked Wild Indigo grows in dry sandy pine-forests and fields along the southern coastal-plain. Similar to Baptisia alba but smaller leaved and often shorter in stature. Also it has brown papery seed pods that are erect rather than black, drooping ones. Grows 1-3 feet tall. White flowers from May to July. Zone 5-9. SC ecotype.
