This plant’s powerful name is derived from one of its Native American uses. The plant was used in conjunction with rattlesnake handling as a preventative measure. We have not tested its powers, and cannot vouch for it in that regard. We can vouch for it as an outstanding accent to prairie gardens and meadows. Theunusual greenish-white balls of flowers have a sort of Medieval torture-device look to them. The foliage resembles something from the Southwest. Plant in well drained full-sun. Plants bloom in mid-late summer. Zones 5-8. OH. ecotype
