Sweet Joe-Pye is a shorter, shade loving and more upland relative to the common wetland Joe-Pye (E. fistulosum and E. maculatum). Typically growing along shady woodland edges and high mountain roadsides and meadows in rich, upland soils. Grows 5-6 foot tall with white to pink flowers and green to purple stems. Flowering occurs mid-summer from July-August. Zone 4-9. Multiple ecotypes available.
