Gelsemium sempervirens 'Margarita' (Carolina Yellow Jasmine)
Gelsemium sempervirens 'Margarita' (Carolina Yellow Jasmine)
Gelsemium is a semi-evergreen twining vine found throughout the Southeast up to Virginia Beach on the East Coast. The sprawling vine climbs up small trees and large shrubs or can be trained onto a trellis. Preferred soils are moist but well-drained, organic rich, and slightly acid. Protection from winter winds and sun is beneficial in more northern areas. Yellow flowers appear In March-April with some re-blooming possible into May. Vines may climb to a height of 10 feet or more with help. Margarita was selected for larger flowers, increased hardiness and retention of evergreen leaves. Zone 7-10. Unknown ecotype but probably GA or AL
