Some people mistake this plant for the weedy Indian strawberry Duchesnea indica but this is a grave mistake as this plant while fast spreading never becomes weedy. Bright yellow flowers in the spring sit atop glossy semi-evergreen leaves. in the fall the leaves turn a nice shade of purple and overwinter this way (as long as its not too cold).
