Hyptis alata is a mint family member from the deep south in moist meadows and swamps. It is similar in form to a Liatris but with flower clusters like a Pycnanthemum. Plants grow upright to 4 feet tall with pinkish-white flowers July-September. Preference is for full sun and moist to wet sandy soils. Zone 7-10. (Note: has definitely proven to not be hardy in zone 6) FL ecotype
