Purple rocket is rather uncommon in the Appalachian region. Preference is for rich, moist woodlands and moist meadows especially in limestone rich areas. This herbaceous perennial is in the mustard family and in some ways resembles a more diminutive dames rocket. Growing 1-3 feet tall with purple to white, four-petaled flowers in May-June. Zone 4-8.
