Oenothera tetragona closely resembles Oenothera fruticosa except that is tends to prefer rich woodlands, has hairy stems, broader leaves and grows taller. Young spring growth often has speckled or even solidly purple coloration. Soils are typically dry and well-drained but organically rich. Preference is for part sun.
