Pluchea odorata var. succulenta (Northern Sweetscent) Seeds
Sweetscent is a very attractive plant with unpredictable annual to perennial tendencies. In the wild it inhabits coastal salt marshes where it grows on the margins of the tidal zone. However it is very adaptable to gardens and container growing. The foliage is an attractive grey-green with a strong, sweet camphor-like smell that deters deer. The flowers are pink and everlasting-like. They may make great dried arrangements. Flowering goes from July to September and attracts hordes of pollinators. Plants grow 1-3 feet tall and prefer full sun. Unique and very cool! The northern subspecies I list has brighter flowers and a more staminate habit that really brings the pollinators. Zone 3-9. NJ ecotype. // Seed packet, about 100 seeds. Germination requirements: 60 days cold, moist stratification. Seeds may germinate without stratification.
