This is a tall warm-season grass that grows between 5-7 feet tall and blooms July-August. Summertime foliage is sometimes blue but more often is green. Fall foliage is a pleasant yellow-orange color. The flowers are very attractive with a “cream-soda” coloration of red-brown and yellow. Best in very dry soils or else it might get “floppy”. Forms a nice clump but can spread aggressively by seed. Very deep roots make this a choice plant for soil-stabilization projects such as streamsides and slopes. VA ecotype. Zone 4-9. // Seed packet, about 50 seeds. Germination requirements: None.
