Curtis’ aster grows in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, Tennessee, The Carolinas and Georgia. Preference is for Full sun to part shade and moist to average soils. It grows 2-3 feet tall and has numerous nickel-sized blue to white flowers from August to October. Similar to many blue woodland asters, this one has more of an affinity to moist soils and has very large and conspicuous reflexed phyllaries on the flower bud. Zone 4-8. VA ecotype
