Purple false foxglove is a wispy annual of acidic swamps and bogs. The plant is also hemi-parasitic meaning that while it does parasitize the roots of other plants, it also produces energy through photosynthesis. The plant is one to two feet tall and slender with thin leaves and few stems. Dark purple flowers appear from August to October. Preference is for wet, acidic, peaty or sandy soil and full sun.
