Pink tickseed is rather uncommon in the wild, found only in moist swales and bogs along the Atlantic coast. Preference is for full to part sun and moist, loamy to sandy soil. It is not at all drought tolerant and is best in wet swales, ditches, pond edges and other places that do not frequently dry out. Can spread by rhizomes to form a dense groundcover. Grows 1-2 feet tall with thin, wispy stems and leaves. White-pink flowers appear in the Summer from June to September. Zone 3-8 / NJ ecotype. // Seed packet, about 50 seeds. Germination requirements: 60 days cold, moist stratification.
