$3.00
This tall and stately sunflower is a late bloomer. Large 2-3 inch wide sunflowers appear from September to October making them important late season plants for pollinators, in particular to migrating Monarch Butterflies. In the wild they grow in moist swampy coastal wetlands, bogs, and low meadows. But they are quite adaptable to any suitable, moist soil. Grows 5-7 feet tall with narrow leaves and reddish stems. Can spread a good bit so give them room. Our seeds originate from rare populations in New Jersey where the plant reaches its norther-most limit. Zone 3-9, NJ ecotype. // Seed packet, about 30 seeds. Germination requirements: 60 days cold, moist stratification.
