Rough hawkweed is a low perennial dandelion-like plant that loves poor, dry, woodlands and sunny, barrens habitats. Broad, hairy leaves lie flat on the ground and give rise to a 10-14 inch tall flower stalk with numerous yellow dandelion-like flowers. The seeds that follow hold persistently onto the stalk and are a yellow-brown color and are in a way attractive as well. A subtle beauty for a dry and difficult site. Zone 3-8.
