Shorts aster bears some resemblance to other heart-leaved woodland asters such as blue wood aster. However this aster prefers drier and more limestone rich soils. It also has leaves that are minimally to not toothed at all. Grows 2-3 feet tall. Preference is for part sun and average to dry soils. White to blue flowers appear in September to October. Zone 5-8 / PA ecotype.
