Vernonia glauca (upland Ironweed)
Vernonia glauca (upland Ironweed)
$8.50
This tall perennial is similar to the more common giant and New York Ironweeds except that it prefers to grow in dry upland meadows and is rather shorter (3-5 feet tall). The seeds are also butter-yellow rather than brown. This is a great tall accent for a dry and difficult location. Violet-purple flowers late summer into the fall (August-September). Preference is for poor, dry soil and full sun. Zone 5-8. VA ecotype.
