Full sun; Average to dry poor soil; Aromatic, anise scented leaves on a 3-4' tall upright perennial. Native to the upper mid-west this plant never-the-less is at home most anywhere in North America. Makes a nice tea. Blue-purple flower appear from June to September; Seeds heavily and can spread a bit; Zone 4-8; Midwest ecotype.
