Boneset is so named because it was supposed to aid in treating an older variant of the flu that was called break-bone fever. It is an attractive perennial with young leaves having a metallic purple cast to them. Grows between 2 and 4 feet tall and does not spread much by rhizomes. White flowers appear mid to late summer (July-September) and attract large numbers of pollinators. Preference is for full sun and wet to average soil. it is often found in wet meadows and riversides. Zone 3-8. WV ecotype.
