This evergreen shrub prefers part to full shade and well-drained acidic and organic rich soils. Often found in sandy woodlands. Tolerating full sun only on high mountain tops. Grows 5 to 15 feet tall. White to pink flowers in May-June. Foliage is fully evergreen. Extremely slow growing so patience is needed in it’s cultivation. Zone 4-9. NC ecotype.
