Sun to part shade; Dry stony or sandy soil; This liatris looks a bit like a little thistle with its coarse leaves and button like flower heads. It loves hot dry soils and thrives on cliffs, in barrens, and on sandstone ledges. Grows 1-2' tall; Blooms July-August; Zone 5-8; VA ecotype
