Climbing milkweed is very similar in appearance to Carolina milk vine but with some subtle floristic differences and a more Appalachian Mountain distribution. Light sun to part shade; Dry, well-drained soil; Star-shaped maroon flowers with narrow slightly twisted petals. Herbaceous vine with pale green, heart-shaped leaves, growing 6-8 feet tall depending on what is available for it to grow onto; Preference is for dry, thickety, woods edges; blooms June-July; zones 5-8. WV. ecotype.
