Sun to light shade; Dry stony soil; Glade wild quinine is fairly rare, growing mostly on dolomite and limestone barrens in Virginia and North Carolina. Similar to common wild quinine it differs in that it often blooms earlier, is shorter and often has side branches on the flower stem, its leaves and stems are conspicuously hairy, and it can tolerate high PH soils. Grows 2-3' tall; Blooms May-July; Zone 5-7; NC ecotype
