Thicket bean or wild green bean is a sprawling vine that will also climb if given support. Grows 4-5' long/tall. Pink flowers appear July-September followed by green bean pods that dry to a tan color. Highly sought after as a perennial edible bean (as a dry soup bean) and efforts have been made to breed this plant with cultivated annual beans to create a marketable perennial bean. Prefers dry well-drained soil. Zone 5-9. WV ecotype.
