Sweetscent is a pollinator powerhouse. Long blooming it attracts a wide variety of bees and butterflies. The leaves are fragrant and the flowers are slightly sweet smelling as well. This plant behaves sort of like and annual but can also be a short lived perennial. It’s natural habitat is salt marshes and wet salty ditches in the coastal plain from New England to Mexico. But it is adaptable to most garden soils as an annual bedding plant. The subspecies offered here is from the North East and is generally considered to be a more robust and showier form of the plant than the southern forms. Grows 2-3 feet tall. Pink flowers from Aug-October. Preference is for full sun and damp soil. Zone 3-10. NJ ecotype.
