Pycnanthemum flexuosum (Savannah Mountain Mint)
Pycnanthemum flexuosum (Savannah Mountain Mint)
$8.50
Savannah Mountain Mint prefers wet meadows and marshes in the southern coastal plain and, occasionally, piedmont. This species has small but broad leaves and grows between 2-3 feet tall. It will spread though not as aggressively as some mints. Preference is for full to part sun and moist sandy soil. Flowers have pronounced, narrow, silvery calyx lobes which might be confused for the flower itself. These give the plants flowers the appearance of light, fluffy, silver clouds (more like a Thalictrum than Pycnanthemum). Flowering occurs July-August. Zone 4-8. Unknown ecotype.
