Flame azalea is a large slow-growing shrub reaching 8 feet tall or so. Like most native azaleas the preference is for part sun and moist but not wet, acidic, sandy-loam. Flowers range from yellow to orange and attract a host of butterflies. Needs protection from deer especially as the plants only grow a few inches to maybe a foot a year. A stunning shrub and well worth the wait! Zone 5-7. NC ecotype.
