Pinkshell Azalea is a very early blooming (April-May) and range from pale pink to dark rose. The flowers are lightly scented with a clove-like fragrance. The natural range is very limited: found only in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina. Grows 6-12 feet tall. Preference is for full sun to part shade and humusy, moist, but well-drained acidic soil. Zone 3-8. NC ecotype.
