This Rudbeckia was formerly classified as a type of fulgida but has now been given a separate species identity. This is well founded as this plant is bigger and bolder than fulgida growing 2-3 feet tall with large 2-3 inch wide flowers that bloom July-August. The foliage is triangular and serrated and the plant is stiffly upright. A great replacement for the garden variety ‘Goldstrum’ cultivar! Found in sun to part sun and moist, usually limestone-rich soils. Zone 6-8. VA ecotype
