Formerly Gaura biennis, this is a tall biennial wildflower of mesic meadows to dry and rocky hillsides. Forms a crown the first year then flowers the second before setting seed and dying. Reseeding will occur in gardens and landscapes where open soil is allowed to occur. Preference is for full sun to part shade and average to dry soil. White to pink flowers occur midsummer from July to September. Plants grow 3-6 feet tall. Zone 5-9.
