Royal catchfly is largely a prairie species. ranging east into Ohio and south to Georgia. 4-5 foot tall stalks are topped in July-August with bright red flowers much like those of fire pink (Silene virginica). Much loved by hummingbirds, bees and butterflies. Full sun and average to dry soils is best. Zone 5-8. OH ecotype. // Seed packet, about 50 seeds.
