Sun to light shade; Dry stony soil; This small fine textured milkweed grows in dry outcrops, stony fields and shaley barrens. Grows 1-2' tall; Blooms with small white flowers in July-August; Monarch butterflies use this plant but it is not favored since it is so small. Spreads slowly by underground runners. Zone 4-9; VA ecotype // Seed packet, about 50 seeds. Germination requirements: 60 days cold, moist stratification.
