Sun; Average to wet sandy soil; This subspecies of swamp milkweed differs from the typical by being slightly shorter, stockier and with broad fuzzy leaves. Usually found in sandy wetlands in the coastal plain and piedmont. Because of its larger leaves it may be better at attracting monarch butterflies than the typical species.
