Sometimes listed as Clinopodium carolinianum. Georgia Basil grows in coastal sandhills and piney woods throughout the coastal plain and piedmont of North Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. It is a short evergreen shrub growing 1-2 feet tall. Slightly stoloniferous, it can form a low thicket. Preference is for full sun to light shade. It requires a well-drained, sandy or rocky soil with a neutral to alkaline PH. Pink to purple tubular flowers occur from July to September. Zone 7-10. Unknown ecotype. // Seed packet, about 100+ seeds. Germination requirements: 30 days cold, moist stratification. May germinate without stratification.
