This unusual woodland aster has the habit of blooming in early summer from July to August rather than in the autumn. Grows about 1-2 feet tall with ebony black stems and white daisy flowers. A boon to pollinating insects in the summer! Plants are well behaved spreading only by seed. Preference is for dappled shade to part sun in dry stony soils.
