Formerly Onosmodium bejariense var. hispidissimum. Marbleseed is an odd-looking perennial. it grows 2-3 feet tall and has soft green-grey leaves and stems that are very hairy. White flowers appear, June-July, on stalks that unroll like a fiddle-head. Flowers remain closed and are only visited by larger and stronger pollinators such as bumble-bees who can pry the petals open. Preference is for full sun and very dry and well-drained soil. Zone 3-8. VA ecotype // 20 seeds per packet. // Germination requirements: Double dormancy. 30-60 days cold-moist stratification followed by 60-90 days warm followed by an additional 30-60 days of cold. Basically takes 2 years to germinate.
