Nettleleaf Sage is an unusual plant not actually closely related to any other north American sages. It has thick, deep roots and prefers dry semi-shady woodlands, ledges and other rocky, shady habitats. It cannot tolerate acidic soils and prefers neutral to alkaline soil. Grows 10-20 inches tall with purple flowers May-July. Zone 6-9. AL ecotype.
