Zig-Zag goldenrod is named after the fact that the stem bends back and forth at every leaf-node giving it a distinctive look. Leaves are large and rounded and yellow flowers appear in a terminal cluster at the end of the stem. Preference is for part to full shade and fairly dry soil. Grows 10-14 inches tall. Inhabits dry upland woods throughout the eastern US. Zone 3-8. WV ecotype.
