This is a fairly rare meadowrue that is found in higher mountains from Georgia to Pennsylvania. In appearance it is similar to early meadow-rue except that it is taller and blooms later. The plant is dioecious (separate male and female plants). The flowers are pinkish to purple and occur May-June. Plants grow 3-5 feet tall. Preference is for rocky woodlands and woods-edges, especially in the mountains. Zone 4-6. PA ecotype.
