Part to Full Shade; Moist sandy soil; Relatively uncommon low groundcover occurring along moist stony streambanks and wet hillsides in the woodlands of the southern Appalachian mountains. Lots of small white flowers appear in late spring-summer on top of ebony colored stems. Needs moist soil and low competition from larger plants. Grows 10-14" tall; Blooms May-July; Zone 5-8; WV ecotype
