Cherokee is a semi-evergreen, clump-forming sedge of moist woodlands, woods edges, river and stream sides and other moist semi-shady locations. Preference is for rich, moist soil and part to full shade. Grows 6 to 10 inches tall with yellow flowers April-May. Zone 6-9. VA ecotype
