Downy lobelia is a cute slender cousin to the great blue lobelia. Sporting lighter blue flowers in summer from July to September and soft fuzzy leaves and stems to 2-3 feet tall. Unlike many lobelias, this one has a preference for drier soils and is often found on sandy or gravelly substrates. Tolerant of sun or light shade. Bees and small butterflies like it very much.
