Spotted bee balm loves dry poor soil. Best in lean sandy soil and full to part sun. Can spread by seeds to form large colonies but individual plants tend to be short lived especially if the soil is too rich. Grows 1-3' tall and has lots of yellow, spotted flowers surrounded by white to bright pink bracts which are tiered like a pagoda. Flowers from June to August. Zone 3-8. VA ecotype.
