This is a thicket forming shrub or small tree growing 4 to 15 feet tall. Preference is for full sun and moist to average soil. Often found growing in flood-plains. White flowers in march are followed by cherry-like plums with a large pit. Flavor is good. Plant 2 or more for good fruit set. (These are seed grown). Zone 5-9. Unknown ecotype.
