Formerly Hypericum virginicum. This is a small perennial of wet ditches, swamps, bogs and other sunny wet soils. Plants grow 10-14 inches tall and have green foliage that is often tinged with purple. This plant also runs somewhat to form a small but not dense patch. Pink flowers appear from July to September followed by bright red seed pods. Very attractive plant with multi-season interest! However it is not very strong and is best used mixed with other small wetland perennials, especially in nutrient poor wetlands such as bogs. Zone 3-10 / PA ecotype.
