Highbush blueberry is a familiar shrub, producing the large berries that are a favorite summer treat! Most cultivars have their origin in wild populations in New Jersey, long the home of Blueberry cultivation. However this shrub is very widspread and variable. Our form comes from the mountains of North Carolina. It produces chick-pea sized fruits early to mid-summer. White flowers appear May-June. Preference is for moist but well drained and acidic soils in full to part sun. 6-10' tall. Zone 3-8. NC ecotype
